Wix keeps every image you upload on its media server, static.wixstatic.com, and each page asks that server for a resized copy. Chrome receives those copies as AVIF files, often far smaller than what you uploaded. A move to another host or a backup needs the uploads themselves, and Wix has no button that hands you all of them.
Wix says a site built on it "needs to be hosted and operated on Wix's servers", so there is no site export to take elsewhere. For images, its help center describes these options:
For a large library, or to keep each page's images together, use the methods below.
Right-click the image and choose "Open image in new tab". The address holds the file's ID, then /v1/ and the resize steps:
https://static.wixstatic.com/media/b8ca47_3817…~mv2.jpg/v1/fit/w_960,h_1280,q_90,enc_avif,quality_auto/b8ca47_3817…~mv2.jpg
Delete everything from /v1/ onward, so the address ends at the file's own extension, and reload:
https://static.wixstatic.com/media/b8ca47_3817…~mv2.jpg
I tried this on seven photos and logos from six public Wix sites. Each time it returned the stored JPEG or PNG at full size, and the same file came back whether or not the request said the browser accepts AVIF. A 960×1200 page copy came from a 2584×3230 photo of 5.2 MB, a 960×639 copy from a 5120×3413 photo, and a 400×118 logo from a 1367×508 PNG. Some uploads are barely bigger than what the page shows: a 704×1007 copy came from a 705×1009 file, but the full file was 140 KB against the copy's 10 KB AVIF.
When the page shows only part of a photo, the address contains /v1/crop/, and cutting it gives you the whole uncropped upload. A 632×512 crop on one site came back as the full 2251×3000 photo. Some addresses chain two steps, as in /v1/fit/…/file.jpg/v1/fill/…; cut at the first /v1/.
A Pro Gallery blocks right-click on desktop, and Wix has no setting to allow it. On your own site you can switch on the gallery's Download toggle instead. Wix says visitors then get your original images, except free Wix media.
All six sites sent small blurred stand-ins for some images (the address contains blur_2), so scroll to the bottom of a page to let the real images load before you save.
/v1/, the same edit as above. It reads addresses from the page itself, so a blocked right-click does not stop it.source.txt holding the page link, which helps when you rebuild the pages elsewhere. Deep scan scrolls only the current tab, so scroll the others yourself.Wix picks the format of each page copy from the list of formats the browser sends. With Chrome's list, all seven page copies came back as AVIF. A request listing WebP but not AVIF got WebP, and a plain request got JPEG or PNG. That is why "Save image as" on a Wix page in Chrome usually gives you an AVIF file. The originals ignore the browser and come back in the format you uploaded. An animated GIF was the exception: its page address returned the same 80-frame GIF as the original.
If you only need one displayed image as a JPG or PNG, PixLasso's right-click Save image as JPG / PNG / WebP is free.
Save images from your own site, or from a site whose owner has agreed. Wix licenses its free media for digital use within Wix only, and its copyright page says users are not authorized to migrate Wix content outside of Wix. Leave those images behind when you move, and replace them on the new site.
The free version saves up to 30 images per download in their original format, with no daily limit. With All tabs, a batch stops at the end of a whole tab (or after 30 images if the first tab alone has more), and each press after that saves the next batch, so 300 images take at least ten presses. Pro, a single US$9.99 payment (the launch price until 31 December 2026, then US$14.99), removes the per-batch limit and adds batch conversion to JPG, PNG or WebP, resizing, padding to a white square and custom file names. The Wix originals in my sample were already JPEG, PNG or GIF, so a plain backup needs none of that.
PixLasso only sees images on pages you open, so get uploads that no page uses any more from the Media Manager. I checked its Wix rule with curl against the image server and addresses copied from live sites, not with a full browser run on each site.
Address edits checked 1 November 2026 on Wix's image server with seven photos and logos and one animated GIF from six public Wix sites, using the formats Chrome asks for and a plain request. Wix's export options are from its help center on the same day. I made PixLasso, and I mention it where it helps; the address edit needs no extension.
