How to download Google Images in full size

The grid on Google Images is made of small previews, often about 200 pixels wide and stored by Google. The full picture lives on the website that published it. Right-clicking the grid and choosing "Save image as" saves the preview.

Method 1: One image by hand

  1. Click a result. The panel on the right loads the picture from the original site.
  2. Wait until it is sharp, then right-click it and choose Open image in new tab.
  3. Save it from that tab. The tab shows the real size in its title.

If the large version never loads, click Visit and save the picture from the page it came from.

Method 2: Every result on the page into one ZIP

The results page already lists the address of each original next to its preview, so an extension can download the originals without clicking through. PixLasso does this from version 0.1.1. In a test on 24 October 2026 with the search "red sneakers", it found an original for each of the first 100 results; 57 were 800 pixels wide or more. Results that Google adds while you scroll further come without that address, so PixLasso saves their previews. Of 15 originals we fetched directly, 12 downloaded. When a site refuses the request, PixLasso saves Google's preview instead and tells you.

  1. Add PixLasso to Chrome or Edge, then search on Google and open the Images tab.
  2. Click the PixLasso icon. You do not need to scroll first: the first 100 results are already on the page.
  3. Set Min size to 800px to keep only large pictures. Results with an original carry an HD badge.
  4. Click Download. The originals come from many different sites, so PixLasso asks once for access to all sites.

The free version saves up to 30 images per download. See how other sites did on the works-with page.

Copyright

Google Images shows pictures from other people's websites, and each one keeps its owner's copyright. To find pictures you may reuse, open Tools > Usage rights > Creative Commons licenses on the results page, then check the license on the source site.
