How to download Pinterest images in full size

Saving from a Pinterest grid gives you a blurry 236-pixel thumbnail. The original upload is usually much larger — and its address follows a predictable pattern.

The URL trick

Pinterest serves every pin image from i.pinimg.com in several sizes:

https://i.pinimg.com/236x/ab/cd/ef/abcdef.jpg ← grid thumbnail
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/ab/cd/ef/abcdef.jpg ← pin page
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ab/cd/ef/abcdef.jpg ← original upload

Open an image in a new tab, replace 236x or 736x with originals, and save. (A few very old pins have no original; then 736x is the largest.)

A whole board or search at once

  1. Open the board. Pinterest only keeps the pins near your screen in the page, so scroll gradually.
  2. Use an extension that rescans while scrolling and rewrites thumbnail addresses to originals.

In PixLasso, click Deep scan: it scrolls the board, collects pins as they appear, and marks images where a full-size original was found with an HD badge. Download them as one ZIP. Free up to 30 images per download.

Respect the creators

Most Pinterest images belong to someone else. Downloading for a private moodboard is common; republishing usually needs permission. Credit and link the original source when you share.
